Social Chat | Episode 1

I’m always telling my clients and friends that video is the best way to promote yourself, your business or your product.

And because I’ve videoed my subjects…er…my clients I’ve watched them obsess over what to say and how to say their pitch or watch them rehearse their lines. Most often they are apprehensive and nervous being in front of the camera. I tell them that they’re fabulous and beautiful (to the women). I tell them that they’ll do great! And I tell them just relax and just be yourself on camera. Simple, right?

Well, yesterday I did what I tell my clients to do. Now my mug is on YouTube. For the whole world to see.

My good friend, Oscar Gonzalez of OscarsTech and I did a Social Chat about Social Media. Inspired by conversations about social media through SMMOC and SMFire, a discussion is a great way of learning about the next new thing in digital marketing. Just when you think you’ve mastered one area of marketing you have to learn another. Keeping up is the name of the game.

I consider myself lucky to have met Oscar. We first met because I needed WordPress help (yes, he’s WordPress Guru) and we since have chatted over coffee, Google Hangouts, and Skype about social media and stuff. He comes from a geeky IT background and I have a graphic design background. He uses an inferior smartphone and I use the iPhone. So we’re different.

Here is our chat. Episode 1. Our pilot. Enjoy.

(Oscar, couldn’t you have chosen a better cover image for the YouTube video??? Ewwww.)

It was fun doing this! And I think you have a typo, it should be “He uses a superior smartphone and I use the iPhone” just FYI.

And yes, youtube didn’t give me a better choice on the thumbnail. Maybe next time. I wish you could just pick an image arbitrarily or a frame at any given point in the vide.
